Emmy's Birthday and Thanksgiving

I'm so glad we visited Emmy, Jordon and Joe for Emmy's Birthday. We made it over the pass with no problem weather. It was nice to be out of town for the big election day and we had a grand time hanging out with each other at Emmy's. Brian and I had the whole basement to ourselves and we were to blessed to not have to get a hotel. The Minky store was a highlight and hit with the christmas music going and the great discounts. Emmy finally got a hugs blanket and one Minky in crimson red. We ate lunch at the Red Iguana and it was so good. We were thinking we wanted to go hiking in the canyon by Payson, but by the time we got to the site, it was almost dark and the trail was covered in snow! I guess hikes in Utah are only for summertime. We got to visit for five days and I missed pickeball. When I got back to my routine, I went a little to agressively and threw out my back somehow. Most of Novemeber was me trying to get my back back in a healed shape. I feel so much for those who have chronic pain, it is a hard thing to bear. I'm doing much better now, but I'm glad November is over and that makes me more careful when doing things to take care of myself. Joe came for Thanksgiving and I'm so glad. I picked him up from SFO and we had the best clam chowder by the bay with all the Christmas decorations which was so cozy and such great ambience. Some higlights were going out to eat with Joe at Al's and getting good pizza. We got a free carrot cake since the waitress spilled water on the guys. Thanksgiving was fantastic with the grandparents on both sides and Scott cutting up the turkey. It was impressive how it was carved. Jason and Robyn made it later that evening so it was about 11 people spread through two meals on Thanksgiving. I felt so happy and Joyful to give at the Giving machine this year and last. Charity brings the spirit like nothing else. I'm glad we have all the happy family times mixed in with the challenges of life. Spencers washer is broke once again and there are always mishaps and dramas going on. I just trust in the Lord, do what I can and try to have a good attitue and everything works out. Joe and I had fun on Black Friday and I still need to wrap all those wonderful gifts. The holidays are great and I want to spend them serving others, being grateful, and staying cozy wrappied up in my Minkys.

Never a Dull Moment

You would think that after all of the birthdays and parties happening around here had passed that things would be pretty uneventful for awhile, but that is definitely not the case.

The day after Spencer's birthday Emmy invited three of her friends over and they made a sarcastic hot pink birthday cake for a boy that one of her friends used to like. They had lots of fun baking and driving all over town, and Spencer sure enjoyed having all of teenage girls at the house.

On Monday Celia got to have "her hair done" for an E.E.G. like the ones that she got when she was four. We went to visit Dr. Chez, hers and Spencer's neurologist, for the first time in almost four years and he remembered us. He said that he wanted to get to know Celia again and to make sure that the nightmares that she sometimes gets aren't from any seizures that we don't know about.

On Wednesday Andrew came over to pick up a guest pass from Emmy so that she could go to his Senior Ball next week. She had forgotten it at school, but luckily I was able to go pick it up from the office at her school and bring it over to the office at Andrew's school a few hours before the deadline. While he was at our house, him and Emmy decided that they wanted to make a pizza from scratch. They went out and bought all of the ingredients that we didn't already have around the house and spent the rest of the evening making the dough, waiting for it to rise, putting toppings on the pizza and then putting it in the oven. They seemed like they had lots of fun doing all of that while in the meantime Brian and I went on date night to Costa Vida. I decided to try their raspberry chicken salad, and I think it has become a new favorite of mine!

On Friday afternoon I dropped Joseph off to go on a campout with his boy scout troop, and he felt like he was better prepared for camping this time around since he could use the hiking backpack that he got for his birthday to carry his things during all of their hiking instead of having to carry a couple duffle bags. Celia felt like she wanted to go camping too so while Joseph was packing his things she took out all of her own camping supplies, only all of her things were much smaller and all pink. He seemed like he had a great time and enjoyed telling me about all of the hatchet throwing contests they had at the campout. He didn't get home until late on Saturday night, but he was all smiles and didn't even seem to mind that he was covered in dirt.

Also on Friday, I got around to replacing the hubcaps on Emmy's car. She had been missing her front left hubcap for awhile, so Brian decided to order her some new ones. I put them on her car by myself, but they turned out to be too small. We had barely even gotten off of our street before three of them came off. Oh well. We're ordering some different ones that are the right size, and after a carwash and a week and a half of being in the repair shop her car will be all the way nice and spiffy again. It's so nice that we have a working car for her to be able to drive herself places and we're glad that it will be working for another few years.

And after all that, we all enjoyed just being able to relax.

Go, Fix, Rest

I want to get out and move. I went to my old gym on Monday. It was funny seeing the manager there. Of course He recognized me since I've had that membership for a while( Despite the I haven't seen You in a while look ), but I've been going to the one in Rocklin more since it is a bit closer.  It was foggy and I ran on the treadmill a little. Pretty boring, I tell ya. So the next day I went walking around a nice neighbor hood that has a great circular path and some biking paths nearby. I love to hike, and this was as pretty as being out in nature on a hike even though it was just green space near neighborhoods. I loved the blue birds, the trees, the sun breaking through the fog and everything being green. Funny how it gets so green here in the winter because of all the moisture and rain.  It has been extra cold here this year so all my plants in the backyard look dead, but hopefully things will come back in a month or two. Finding a lady bug gave me hope, he kids loved it too. I put it on my rose bush and hope she/he wants to stay.

There always a mishap when I plan to go out and exercise. Celia broke her glasses Monday, Tuesday Spence slept in Tuesday so we couldn't walk the other kids to school, and Today Joseph had a scrapped up knee from a mishap yesterday so walking was out of the question. Guess I'll just have to make the effort at a different time today. It makes me happy to stretch , be out and about,  and exercise. Its not a resolution per say, but consistently treating my body well is! That being said I have some sleep to make up since I was with Spence last night. I gotta get my no light curtains I bought up so that I can cat nap during the day sometime, my body knows when its light out and wont let me sleep. Here's to tricking it and getting some rest!

Thankful for Patience

Happy Thanksgiving!. I am so grateful for my loving husband, wonderful children and sweet extended family. I'm glad my tree out front that has been looking so sad finally has its leaving turning autumn colors. I am hopeful it will perk up and get great leaves next year. We have been enjoying relaxing in town and prepping for Thanksgiving. I am Thankful for all our blessings of comfort, but also for the love and joy I feel from serving others.( even  my wild Indian kiddos;)) I want to have our gifts to each other for Christmas this year to be one of time and effort given in our family. I love the idea of giving of oneself for a need or want of someone we know.  Yes, some things take fixing and assembling and I am happy to have Brian to help with that.  Celia knows what I like and often tells me she will give me a peach or let me watch "Twilight" if I let her eat out of the kitchen, hehe. It is a great thought though, trying to give someone else what they want and look for those reinforcing things. I'm grateful for kind people in traffic and in supermarkets. I'm most grateful for patience to give it, and be able to receive it. We are all weak in something and make mistakes, how great it is to love one another, to be patient and forgive. I look at mishaps and trials as an opportunity for understanding and growth. I am happy, life is good and I'm grateful for this time in my life.

Not too Tiring

We take community outings with the kids to practice being out in public, staying safely by me, and we were off to the library today when.. I could feel my tire was flat and sure enough Emmy was telling me that the car had a message saying one tire low pressure. It was completely flat, we were about a mile from home with all the kids and it was pretty warm out. I called AAA which is a total necessity by the way and they said I'd be an hour. I was so happy to have the tutors there. We talked and played with the kids and Yvonne came and had pink and blue playdoh, windup Easter toys, kid's sudoku, and sidewalk chalk in her car. There were three adults and four kiddos. It was very manageable and we waiting patiently and I was off to buy new back tires in no time. I got some good ones and our front tires are looking good, so hopefully it'll be a while before we'll have to get new tires. Things happen that are inconvenient, but I was glad we made it through this one with ease thanks to my friends and children's tutors Yvonne, Andy, and Lindsey. What angels they are!

Two Packages from China

One might ask herself, How many mini receivers does a girl need? Well, apparently three is the right number. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse that talk to the mini receiver behind my monitor, so I have have less cords gathering under my desk(there already are quite a few!. On Christmas day Joseph found the mini receiver and thought it was some sort of black clothes pin, squeezed it together and all of a sudden I was keyboard less. I didn't miss it much that day, but found out that a new mini receiver would have to come all the way from China and could take up to six weeks to come. We ordered it and I went back to my wire full keyboard and mouse in the meantime. Well earlier in January, Celia though she would try that same trick. She found the receiver and snapped it broken in the exact way her brother had the month before. I have a new one now and am excited to be using my keyboard and mouse once again! I may have to hide it and cover it with bubble wrap to keep it safe now. I was very excited to get the package from China and be back in business so to speak with my favorite things to do on the PC; blogging, bills, and facebooking hehe. I only bring this whole incident up because I've learned that children are going to have fun and maybe destroy things in the meantime, but I wouldn't give up the precious time I have to spend with these kids as they grow. They are learning and sprouting up at record speed. New gadgets will come and go , but their time with me makes for good stories and happy memories. I love being with my family and I try hard to teach them all the good things to know in life, like how to be creative, how to treat things nicely, not waste resources, and to not put Things above Relationships. Everything is a learning experience around here and I'm glad we are given second and third chances and that the love and happiness in the family is still in tact.~

Happy New Heater~

That's me on the red carpet as Celia calls it( the material the heaters guys use to cover up the flooring for their work) Notice the space heater in the background. Those have been life savers. Brian was really on that, he had us warmed up by those the first day without heat which was a while a go, December 22nd! We had three running all the time.

I've never been so happy to have a hole cut in my ceiling.:) Hopefully it won't bother the boys too much before we get it patched up.~ I believe the builders of our house installed a heater, that I would find out was recalled a year or more ago, and built the house around it. This route through the boys room is better than removing a weight bearing truss, so it'll all work out. I'm excited to have central heat in the house again. They started, but are delayed 'till next week to finish. We haven't suffered, but Its great to have things in working order.

Last Cabin, Twice Utah, and One Birthday

This was a big trip and very anticipated since we have changes coming up with the ownership of the Family Cabin. We have gone there for over...
